- This is growing up my black tupelo tree. I read that you can identify Virginia Creeper from other 5 leaved plants because the teeth stop when the leave angles toward the stem. Also all the leaves shoot out from a central location (like the Ohio Buckeye seedling, except it has fine teeth all the way down) - some others have little stems that shoot out like American Ginseng (which also has fine teeth all the way down the leaf), or don't intersect like the wild sarsparilla.
